What are Chakras?
The term "Chakra" originates from the ancient Sanskrit term (the language of India) meaning "wheel" or "circle". This is why you will often see chakras referred to as "Wheels of Light".light being energy.
In the simplest of terms, chakras are energy centers, or hubs, within the body that allow healing energy to freely flow through the body. When healing energy flows through the body, it is the job of each chakra to deliver this rich, healing energy to every cell and tissue in our body. When the chakra centers are open, unblocked and balanced, your body is in a perfect state of harmony and well being.
Some people think that energy originates from the chakras. Not so. Healing energy has no beginning and no end. It is everywhere in this universe and surrounds us every millisecond of everyday of our lives. We have access to this healing energy at will and it is the chakra system (if healthy, open and balanced) that allows this healing energy to flow through us at will. It is our job to give our chakras a clear channel or path to allow this energy to flow.
There are many different chakras throughout the body but there are seven major chakras that are the main centers. The 7 chakras govern all aspects of our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. Any imbalance that may exist within one chakra will effect the performance of all the other chakras. This is why it is so important to maintain chakra health. Healing the heart chakra is MOST important as the heart chakra bridges the upper chakras (spiritual self) and the lower chakras (physical self). It is literally your center of balance.
If a chakra imbalance is ignored, the most drastic of circumstances will arise. Your body, mind and spirit will begin to give you warning signs: mental instability, physical illness, body pain. Chakra energy healing has been labeled by many as a new age healing technique. But if you research the origins of the chakra system, you will find this information has been around for centuries. There is nothing "new" about it. ;)
Learning how to open chakras and how to balance chakras is a healthy way to balance your mind, body and spirit. Cleansing and clearing the seven major chakra centers will restore them to their maximum healing potential. This will allow our physical body to access this infinite healing energy to enter our physical body, delivering this energy throughout our body. It will nourish us on every level and restore our state to perfect health.
Chakra maintenance should be done everyday! Just as you would not expect to
maintain your ideal body weight by eating healthy for one day, you can not
expect your chakra system to remain clear and balanced with one meditation.
EVERYTHING in life is a daily process. By taking the time to clear your chakra
system, you are giving your mind, body and spirit it's greatest chance of
maintaining balance and ultimately peace.
